Employers Are Setting the Standard for AI in Benefits

As entrepreneurs build products that change how employees find, use and pay for care, HR and benefits leaders are evaluating a new category of tools on behalf of the people they cover.

Today, in partnership with Aon, we are publishing a survey of 67 HR and benefits decision-makers across industries and company sizes on how they are approaching that work.

What we found:

  • Employers are moving deliberately. Seventy percent of respondents call evaluating AI-enabled benefits solutions a medium or high priority, and 78 percent report moderate-to-high change-management capacity for AI initiatives.
  • Just over half of employers are already piloting AI or running it through existing partners. The rest are weighing which use cases to prioritize, how to define success and what evidence they need before they commit.
  • The employers using AI today are directing it at the places where benefits teams feel the most day-to-day friction: employee communications and self-service, open enrollment recommendations, workforce and plan analytics, and HR workflow support.
  • Employers named three concerns: privacy, accuracy and AI washing, the practice of labeling basic automation as AI.

Employers are ready to engage with AI that meets them where they are. Read the full report here, How Employers Are Shaping the Future of AI in Benefits, from Define Ventures and Aon.
